The First Annual Chicago Food Film Festival runs Friday and Saturday with sets of culinary-themed movies matched with complimentary repasts.

The CFFF is an outgrowth of the NYC Food Film Festival, founded five years ago by documentarian George Motz (Hamburger America) and chef Harry Hawk (Schnack, Water Taxi Beach).

Friday night, "Savory & Sweet," includes Mark Irving's Eat Your Fill, Meredith Arthur and Eric Slatkin's Obsessives: Soda Pop, TG Herrington's Mr. Okra, Craig Noble's The Perfect Oyster, John D. Reilly's Celeriac, Michael Gebert's Pie as a Lifestyle, and Orrin Zucker's Death and Life of Ice Cream.

Catering from Shaw's Crab House, the Wisconsin State Fair, Red Hot Chicago, Hoosier Mama Pie Co., Harvest Moon Organic Farm, Metropolis Coffee Co., and Dry Soda Co.

Saturday is "Chicago Burger & Beer Experience," with Motz's The Best of Hamburger America, Joe York's CUD, and the lone feature-length offering: Anat Baron's 90-minute Beer Wars, about the asymmetrical conflict between insurgent and corporate brewers. It screens Saturday at 8:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A with Baron and Stone Brewing CEO Greg Koch.
