After musician and Delilah's employee Jason Larsen wrapped up an August 18 show at Liar's Club with Thee Invaders, where he plays lead guitar, he was jumped on a side street near the bar by four subhuman shitstains, who broke his leg in two places and left him with what Delilah's owner Mike Miller says is a $25,000 hospital bill. They got $50 and a cell phone for their trouble.

This is yet another awful example of the dangers Chicago holds for all who work and play in the early morning hours—musicians without health insurance in particular—but the local music community is once again pulling together to help one of its own weather a tragedy.

"Nobody's got a lot of money right now, but everybody wants to help," says Miller. On Tuesday night from 9 PM till 2 AM, Delilah's will hold a silent auction to raise funds for Larsen—not only does he have those medical bills to deal with, but he'll be unable to work for the next three months.

Lots of local businesses have contributed items to be auctioned off, among them Strange Cargo, Kuma's Corner, Family Tattoo, Mystery Street Recording Company, Bottom Lounge, the Seven Ten Lounge, Easy Rider Bike Shop, Bell's Brewery, and of course Delilah's.
