    The mass marketing madness that brought us Muti Way, Muti Day, and Festa Muti worked: Millennium Park was packed from the Bean to the bridges last night as Chicagoans turned out—about 25,000 strong—for Riccardo Muti's debut performance as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's tenth music director. Amid all the silliness of this effort to make the CSO as popular a civic icon as the Bears—and its conductor the sexiest septuagenarian on earth—the maestro got it right: "Music directors come and go," he told the audience after the concert. "Be always proud of your fantastic orchestra."
