Immigrant Nation! The Battle for the Dream

Chicago Latino International FIlm Festival best documentary winner Esau Melendez's Immigrant Nation! The Battle for the Dream, which follows Elvira Arellano's yearlong standoff with immigration authorities, against the backdrop of the 2006 immigration reform movement, screens Friday in the Christian Community Development Association's inaugural Justice Film Festival. Immigrant Nation! plays Friday at 1:30 p.m. on a double bill with Papers, about undocumented youth.

Playing tonight, beginning at 9:30 p.m.: Annabel Park and Eric Byler's 9500 Liberty, about Prince William County, Virginia's anti-immigrant law, an antecedent to Arizona's current imbroglio; Return to El Salvador, about the aftermath of the Salvadoran Civil War; and Made in LA, about sweatshop union organizers.

Friday at 9:30 p.m., Slamdance Winner God Grew Tired of Us, about the Lost Boys of Sudan, and Crossing Arizona, about people living on both sides of that state's Mexican border.

All screenings are at Park Community Church, 1001 N. Crosby St. $10 donation.
