If you've read this week's List you already know about several Reader-approved weekend concerts—Boris at Metro, Rufus Wainwright at the Bank of America Theatre, Crystal Castles at the Congress, Lower Dens at the Hideout—but they aren't the only shows worth paying attention to. Check out my recommendations after the jump:

Old-school two-tone ska band the English Beat visits Double Door with fellow UK veterans Bad Manners tonight. Snazzily dressed fellows will undoubtedly be skanking their asses off and sweating through their suspenders.

Unsane disciples KEN Mode will be rattling skulls with their metallic noise rock at Metal Shaker on Saturday night. I seriously can't recommend these guys enough. When I saw them at Ronny's back in May, I was sure my eardrums were actually bleeding. That's always a good sign, right? They're from Winnipeg (that's in Canada), the drummer plays wearing nothing but bicycle shorts, and the cowboy-hatted singer looks like he's trying to swallow the microphone.

Miles Raymer wrote about local psych band Secret Colours this week in Sharp Darts. Their show on Saturday at the Beat Kitchen is a release party for their self-titled debut.

On Sunday Ronny's is hosting an all-ages matinee show (a recent and welcome development at the Logan Square dive) headlined by Ceremony, a San Francisco thrash/hardcore outfit schooled in the canon of classic bands like Youth of Today and Chain of Strength. Given 'em a listen and then try to tell me the singer doesn't sound like Ray Cappo.

Other worthwhile shows include Lydia, whose farewell tour stops at Lincoln Hall tonight; Dom Kennedy at Subterranean on Saturday; and Paul Giallorenzo's GitGo at Hungry Brain on Sunday.
