Setback for a Troubled Supermax

Progress Illinois's Adam Doster flags an important ruling that fell under the radar last week: inmates now have the opportunity to challenge transfers to Tamms Correctional Center. The decision falls short—but not very short—of changes sought by reformers like State rep Julie Hamos. Conditions at Tamms have been the subject of some outstanding, chilling reporting in recent years, particularly by Jeffery Felshman and Gary Marx.
