The Tribune editorial board's unwillingness to let John Q. Public play with video poker machines while getting the vapors whenever someone tries to "artificially restrain the banks" (I had no idea that deregulation is a biological imperative) suggests a historically unwarranted yet touching faith in noblesse oblige.
