A boy's life flashes before his eyes as he lies bleeding from a knife wound on the street of a Mexican village in Daniel Carrera's short film Primera Comunion (First Communion).

It screens along with other winners of the Ovation Short Film Contest, including viewers' choice winner Me, You, A Bag & Bamboo by Lara Everly; Eli Akira Kaufman's Winning the Peace, Jarrett Lee Conway's Foolishly Seeking True Love, Noah Lambie's While You Were Out, and Tiffany Schlain's The Tribe.

The contest winners screen Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave. RSVP required.
