Zhou Xun (Beijing Bicycle) plays a cab driver in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province, still searching for her boyfriend (Chao Deng), who disappeared four years ago but continues to write her letters that she recites for her passengers, in Cao Baoping's 2008 The Equation of Love and Death.

It screens as part of Cinema/Chicago's free International Summer Screenings Program, tonight at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center Claudia Cassidy Theater, 78 E. Washington St.

Baoping is a Sundance Lab fellow with his forthcoming How Many Trainings Must I Take Before I Can Be as Hard as Steel?
