Most of the food photography in the Reader looks so good because of one guy: Eric Futran, who has been shooting kitchens and markets and the people that inhabit them all over the world for more than 25 years. Eric can just as easily seduce you with a intimate close-up of a pyramid of pig trotters in a Mexican market stall as he can with a portrait of a rogueish Mike Ryan tempting you with a cocktail from behind the bar at Sable.

Beginning tonight a selection of his photos will be hanging on the walls of the Lakeview Uncommon Ground for an eight-and-a half-week run titled Omnivorous: Photography of the Food Chain. The opening reception starts tomorrow night at 7 PM, featuring a spot by the Noshers, with Eric on bouzouki, performing foot stompers such as "Shake That Chicken Fat" and "(I’m a Cheap White Guy and I Like to Drink) Cheap White Wine."
