InchAllah Sunday

  • "Inch'Allah Sunday"

An Algerian woman (Fejria Deliba) moves her family to 1970s France to reunite with her estranged husband, and finds herself drawn to French culture against the wishes of her conservative mother-in-law, bringing her three children on secret Sunday excursions, in Yamina Benguigui's 2001 film Inch'Allah Sunday (Inch'Allah Dimanche).

It was released stateside by Film Movement, which has a terrific track record of picking up quality standouts from international festivals overlooked by bigger distributors.

Inch'Allah Sunday screens Wednesday 5/12 at Alliance Francaise, 54 W. Chicago. Pre-screening discussion at 6:30 p.m., screening at 6:45. $5 includes French wine. Trailer after the jump.
