On the second anniversary of the Roscoe Village cougar shooting, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum explores science and society's evolving understanding of maligned and threatened predators, with a screening of the documentary Lords of Nature: Life in a Land of Great Predators.

After the screening, filmmakers Karen Anspacher-Meyer and Ralf Meyer join a panel discussion about "the public’s reaction to the presence of predators in Chicago,...the current state of Chicago as an urban ecosystem and...the interdependence between our land and overall ecosystem health."

With moderator Steve Wise of the Center for Neighborhood Technology, UIC biologist Dr. Joel Brown, Notebaert urban ecology curator Steve Sullivan, and Field Museum mammals collection manager Curt Meine.

Thursday 4/14 at 2430 N. Cannon Dr. Wine and cheese reception at 5:30 p.m. Screening at 6. Panel at 7. It's free. RSVP required. Trailer after the jump.
