Chicago’s excellent experimental music presenter Lampo has been quiet since losing its space at 216 W. Chicago last summer. In March it copresented a video-and-music performance at the Gene Siskel Film Center with the Conversations at the Edge Series by Takeshi Murata and Robert Beatty, but next week it finally busts out with a pure music event. A concert by Japanese conceptualist, instrument builder, and sound artist Tomomi Adachi is the first of three events planned for the next few months.

Unfortunately, Lampo hasn’t secured its own, permanent space yet. The Adachi event will happen at Columbia College (916 S. Wabash, room 214) at 8 PM on Friday, April 16, and two additional concerts will take place at the Graham Foundation. The legendary Swedish composer and sound poet Sten Hanson will perform on May 8 and the superb French musique concrete maven Lionel Marchetti returns to Chicago on June 5—both of these events are free. Space is limited, so those interested in reserving space can RSVP to rsvp@grahamfoundation.org.

Today’s playlist:

Chick Corea, The Song of Singing (Blue Note)
Patrick Kosk, Mondweiß (Edition RZ)
Hugo Filho, Paraibô (Shadoks Music)
Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Rumba de Corazon (BIS)
Marc Schmolling Trio, Siebenundsechzigzwei (Jazzwerkstatt)
