A colossal batch of new show announcements came in this week—a sure sign that spring is almost here, 12 inches of snow or no 12 inches of snow. April is just splitting at the seams with impending awesomeness. I'd already scribbled several great shows into my personal calendar before this round of Early Warnings—the Black Lips, Dillinger Escape Plan, Pissed Jeans, Small Black, the XX, Mission of Burma—and now there are even more. If you're anything like me you're gonna blow your whole tax return on live music in April.

This issue's new Early Warnings are highlighted by Aloha, Aqualung, Flying Lotus, High on Fire, Jonsi, Killing Joke, Monotonix, and White Rabbits. But that's only scratching the surface. You can check 'em all out after the jump:

Aloha at the Empty Bottle on April 22
Aqualung at Schubas on May 5 (on sale Friday at noon)
Asylum Street Spankers at SPACE on May 23 (on sale Saturday at 11 AM)
Fred Eaglesmith at FitzGerald's on April 9 (on sale Friday at 9 AM)
Flying Lotus with Kode9 at Double Door on April 2 (on sale Saturday at noon)
High on Fire with Priestess at Lincoln Hall on April 2 (on sale Friday at noon)
House of Pain with GZA at Congress Theater on March 12
Jonsi at the Vic on April 27 and 28 (on sale Friday at 10 AM)
Killing Joke at the Empty Bottle on May 28 and 29
Little Dragon at Lincoln Hall on April 1
Monotonix at Schubas on April 19
The Soft Pack at the Empty Bottle on April 9
The Tallest Man on Earth at Lincoln Hall on May 28 (on sale Friday at noon)
White Rabbits with Here We Go Magic at Metro on April 25 (on sale Saturday at noon)
Wishbone Ash at FitzGerald's on April 2 (on sale Saturday at 9 AM)

Also, don't forget that the Pitchfork Music Festival (July 16 through 18 in Union Park) has announced a few artists in its lineup (Pavement, Modest Mouse, St. Vincent, Lightning Bolt) and put weekend and single-day passes up for sale.

Make sure to visit the Reader's Early Warnings page for a full list of upcoming and updated shows. You can also sign up for a weekly Early Warnings e-mail blast.
