$100,000 Prize Goes to Renaissance Society's Hamza Walker

He's known since Tuesday, but it's only now he can talk about it: Hamza Walker,
Renaissance Society education director and associate curator,has won a $100,000
Ordway Prize, it was announced today. The unrestricted cash award is given every other year to a mid-career arts writer/curator whose work "has had significant impact on the field of contemporary art, but who has yet to receive broad public recognition." Walker, who's been at the
Ren since 1994, says the first thing he'll do with the money is buy his seven-year-old daughter a harp. She's been playing on a rented instrument.
