Show: Rob Mazurek plays with his Exploding Star Orchestra tonight and tomorrow night at the Green Mill. Writes Peter Margasak, "the group delivers some serious rhythmic thunder, with driving ostinatos setting the stage for postminimalist horn riffing, cross-cutting grooves, and generous improvisations."

Show: Retrospect Seven-year-old Pilsen gallery Vespine will be closing at the end of February (and contributing to the Chicago Arts District becoming a "ghost town") The gallery's final exhibition, featuring artists who have previously shown there, opens tonight and continues through the end of the month.

Show: The Addams Family This musical, which closes this weekend, has "a great and humorous grace" and a "witty, strong score" with an old-school feel, says Tony Adler.

Show: The Sun "This 2005 masterpiece by Russian filmmaker Alexander Sokurov transforms the story of Emperor Hirohito at the close of World War II into a melancholy meditation on power and its loss," writes Fred Camper.

Dinner: The Atrium Wine Bar Fox & Obel's newest addition, this wine bar offers a relatively upscale atmosphere at less-than-upscale prices. A modest selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts—less than 20 in all—is joined on the menu by a couple dozen wines by the glass and half glass and several more by the bottle (at the store's retail price).
