Dmitry Samarov, "Christmas in a Cab" "The holidays magnify all that one lacks, forcing one to brood over deficiencies and failures. The best thing is that they end and everyday life resumes, giving the world back the scale and focus necessary to keep getting by."

Athenae, "Her Things Should Keep Her Marks" "She washed the dishes. He dried. That's how I knew what love was."

Katherine of Chicago: "I've grown to tolerate or like many of the songs I used to hate ('Santa Baby,' even 'Wonderful Christmastime,' but there's no question that 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' is a really disturbing song)."

[NB: I'm fine with cheesy Christmas songs, but "Wonderful Christmastime" is inherently awful; I have a bad ear but it always sounds like the chorus was written out of pitch.]
