The Adler Planetarium launches Adler After Dark, a third-Thursday series of evenings featuring entertainment after normal operating hours, Thursday from 6 to 10 PM. The kickoff is free, but subsequent events will cost $15 ($10 in advance).

Visitors can tour the Doane Observatory and check out the planets through its telescope (weather permitting); Adler's resident astronomers will stick around to answer all cosmic questions. Sky and space shows including Cosmic Collisions and 3-D Universe: A Symphony will be playing in the three theaters, and the planetarium's exhibitions—"Telescopes: Through the Looking Glass," on the history of telescope technology, and "Shoot for the Moon," on human space and lunar exploration—will be open. Other activities include getting your skin's health tested by a UV camera and testing your heat tolerance by putting your hand behind ceramic tiles being blasted by a heat gun. And it wouldn't be a nerdy night out without some astronomy and popular-science-themed pub trivia. DJ D-Rek spins dance records; there will also be cocktails (which aren't free) and appetizers. 21+.
