  • Self-promotion alert: I'm cocurating the multimedia art show ELEVATE Saturday 9/19 with [prak-sis] Contemporary Art Association, as I mentioned in an earlier post about Rujanee Mahakanjana's sexuality of architecture documentary Man and His Erections.

The show includes outdoor and indoor videos as well as live bands, DJs, performance art, painting, sculpture and, yes, fire dancing.

&viewasOn the video program are Junko Kajino and my Osaka blues singer tale Homesick Blues, and videos by Stephen Combs, Galina Shevchenko, Heejo Kim, Munkyung Chung, Eun Jeong Baek, Keelie Marie Stitt, John Kannenberg, Michael Sirriani, Gary Pennock and Jung A. Woo.

Plus live performance Loop.Brake.Rebuild. by Davy Bisaro and Lee Blalock, live digital painting by Tyrue Slang Jones and Shelly Johnson, DJ sets by Ruin, Equation and JyC, live rock by Hellbender, live hip hop by High Society, and art by Susannah Papish, Terry Dixon, Derren Oberto, Bill Sosin, Tse Xiao Guang, and Prak-Sis directors Mi-Yeon Kwon and Kiwon Choi.

    ELEVATE runs 7 PM-2 AM Saturday 9/19 at 1513 Studios & Lofts, 1513 N. Western. It's $5 online or $7 at the door.
