Brief Interviews With Hideous Men

  • Brief Interviews With Hideous Men

This week, just a year after writer David Foster Wallace's suicide, the first film adaptation of his work reaches Chicago.

Adapted, in his directorial debut, by The Office costar John Krasinski, Brief Interviews With Hideous Men, based on Wallace's 1999 story collection, premiered this year at Sundance and and screens once Thursday, September 17, at the Wit Hotel in advance of its theatrical and VOD release from IFC next week.

Julianne Nicholson stars as a graduate student whose investigation of the dark corners of the male psyche reflects on her own relationship woes. The hideous interviewees include Ben Shenkman, Timothy Hutton, Michael Cerveris, Chris Messina, Max Minghella, Lou Taylor Pucci, Will Arnett, Dominic Cooper, Ben Gibbard, Denis O'Hare, and Krasinski himself.

At the Wit Hotel, 201 N. State. The $45 ticket includes a hosted reception with drinks and h'ors d'oeuvres at 6 PM before the screening at 6:30. Columbia College film professor Ron Falzone leads a discussion afterward. Seating is limited. Buy tickets here.
