A Puerto Rican man returning to the island after 50 years in Ohio is kidnapped by a band of revolutionaries who put him through "cultural bootcamp" in Javier Colón Rios' 25-minute American Film Institute production De Pura Cepa, screening Saturday 8/22 in the Institute of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture's free, outdoor Puerto Rican Film Series at the renovated Humboldt Park Stables.

Rios makes his first trip to Chicago for Q&A after the screening.

Also on the bill, Andrés Ramírez's action-suspense shorts Witness, Fugitivo 51, and El Bigotú. IPRAC's gallery also features an exhibit of work by Puerto Rican painter Pablo Marcano. Free parking, admission and popcorn.

The screening begins at dusk, around 8 PM, at 3015 W. Division. English & subtitled Spanish.
