e2a3/1248731858-night_court.jpgOn Tuesday night at 5 PM, a panel of legal and media experts will present the case for their recently published list of the 25 greatest legal TV shows at the American Bar Association (321 N. Clark).

Panelists include Jill Goldsmith, a former Cook County public defender who went on to write and produce for Law & Order, The Practice, Boston Legal, and Ally McBeal. Joining Goldsmith will be two law professors; all three panelists were part of the jury that selected the shows on the ABA Journal's top 25 list.

The event is free and open to the public, though guests are encouraged to register online beforehand. The ABA also has plans for a live webcast of the panel discussion for those who want to watch it at the desk and call it a billable hour.

    Death of a cyclist

Bobby Cann was a 26-year-old bike commuter who preached safe cycling. Ryne San Hamel was a 28-year-old motorist who'd just left a crowded bar. Their collision raises questions about whether we're too lenient toward those who drink and drive.
