* Rex Huppke has an interesting piece on a community movement in Auburn-Gresham to shut down a fast-food joint because it encourages loitering and drug-pushing. While I'm familiar with the phenomenon - the old McDonalds on 53rd in Hyde Park was notorious for attracting a bad element -  I think there's some confusion of cause and effect.

* Awhile back Tom Tunney was agitating about banning vendors from an increased area around Wrigley Field because of public safety and irritation. Yet another confusion of cause and effect - vendors are at Wrigley because it's a wonderland of irritation. But behind closed doors, Tunney had other reasons.
