Cinematographer and producer Patrick Charles of Think Differently Pictures is hosting the Movies That Work Film Festival, a showcase of short films by local filmmakers, Wednesday at the Chopin Theater.

The program includes director Owen Weber and writer Chad Queen's The Pick-up, Christopher Nolen's The ReCut about a desperate filmmaker who holds his editor hostage (shot and produced by Charles), Rod Kirkman's Stalling, Sunnye Durham's The Morning After, Calvin Standler's Free to be Free, director Joseph L. Rubino and writer Jeremy Collins's The Lost Ones, and Faith Pennick's Weightless about a "plus-sized SCUBA diver."

The Movies That Work Film Festival is Wednesday at 6 PM at the Chopin Theater, 1543 W. Division.  Tickets are $15.99 online, or $20 at the door.  Complimentary appetizers included.  Cash bar.
