To celebrate the little-known holiday of Olympic Day, which marks the day in 1894 that French educator Pierre de Coubertin established the International Olympic Committee, Chicago 2016 is hosting a free event from 6 to 10 PM on Tuesday at North Avenue Beach (1600 N. Lakeshore Dr.). Pick-up games of beach volleyball, basketball, fencing, and soccer, among others, will be open to the public, with former Olympians and paralympians like Carli Lloyd and April Holmes on hand to join in. A free concert featuring Elevation and the Freddy Jones Band starts at 7 PM.
