The best foreign animation to play Chicago last year was Persepolis, the hand-drawn, mostly black-and-white story of a girl growing to womanhood in Iran during the Islamic revolution and Iran-Iraq War. Marjane Satrapi, who created the story as a series of autobiographical comics and collaborated with French animator Vincent Parannoud on the big-screen version, will lecture next Friday, April 3, at Columbia College Ludington Building, 1104 S. Wabash. The free hour-long lecture begins at 7 PM and will be followed by a Q&A session. Below you can check out the trailer for Persepolis and hear Satrapi commenting on the movie at the New York Film Festival.
