Therapy for iPod Syndrome

Today it took me all of an hour to end up with enough new music downloaded that I'd need the rest of the day just to listen to it all. And of course that doesn't do anything to stop me from downloading more.

The unimaginable amount of music at the fingertips of anyone with an Internet connection is a blessing, sure, but it's one that can from certain angles look a lot like a burden. Last year Seattle-based music critic and former Reader contributor Michaelangelo Matos put what he calls the Slow Listening movement into motion, urging people to resist the allure of the Internet's all-you-can-handle-and-more music buffet and inject a little discipline into their listening habits.

Matos, an Italian design collective, and two guys who are keeping an unreleased Sufjan Stevens song offline are all part of this week's Sharp Darts.
