A second chance at Leonard Cohen

Posted By on 03.02.09 at 06:10 PM

Tickets to Leonard Cohen's May 5 show at the Chicago Theatre went on sale this morning and disappeared from Ticketmaster in a flash.

I just saw some guy on eBay trying to unload two main-floor seats for 500 bucks, and Ticketmaster's euphemistically named "TicketExchange" is listing pairs of tickets in the pit at $870 or more--the cheapest seats available through that dubious channel are more than $270 for two. You'll do no better at Stubhub, either. (To be fair, this wasn't a cheap show to begin with--Ticketmaster's own prices ranged from $55.50 to $253 per, and that's before the phalanx of ludicrous surcharges.)

You'll get another crack at tickets priced somewhat closer to their actual face value this Friday morning at 10 AM. That's when tickets to the just-announced second Cohen show, May 6 and also at the Chicago Theatre, go on sale. Fire up the RoboPhone and cross your fingers.
