You may have noticed that the tickets for tomorrow night's Kings of Leon show at the House of Blues are a little on the pricey side, with some VIP spots going for $250 apiece. This isn't because Chicago has suddenly caught an advanced case of KoL fever from England or because admission includes a gift bag full of excellent drugs. It's because the show is a benefit for pediatric cancer research and treatment at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. Every last bit of the proceeds will be donated, so there should be some nice fuzzy feel-good vibes going on to help make up for the lack of gift bags.

Sunday night things will get a little more sinister when Norwegian black metallers Satyricon open for Cradle of Filth. (I previewed Cradle of Filth for this week's List.) Satyricon's latest album, The Age of Nero, is a punishing onslaught of blastbeats, technical riffage, and throat-shredding vocals--and as is their habit, the group touches the brutality with a medieval-feeling regalness.
