Rep. Bobby Rush, the South Side congressman who has injected racially charged language into the appointment, said on MSNBC that the sight of Burris holding a news conference in the rain after being refused admittance to the Senate floor Tuesday was akin to "the dogs being sicced on children in Birmingham, Ala."

The lede in the story is about how Obama applied pressure to get Senate Democrats to roll over and play dead. John Kass has a great column about it.

*I can't remember the comedian, but that's what he said he thought whenever he went to a family reunion. It is from perhaps the only funny contestant on Last Comic Standing. He was a heroically dry stand-up from somewhere in rural Minnesota, and I hope his career is going well.
