The Trib has a really good investigative report today on the Bush administration's weakening of new EPA limits on airborne lead:
"Two weeks after lobbyists from the industry met with Bush administration officials last month, the White House ordered EPA officials to raise the monitoring threshold to a ton or more, records show."
On the other hand, the nascent Obama administration seems pretty proactive about identifying such actions, with a focus on the EPA.
