Cubs fans now have another reason to root for the Phillies. Just a few hours before game two of the NLCS between the Dodgers and Phillies, Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel learned that his mother had died. The game's under way right now, and Manuel's forging ahead. After their 3-2 victory last night, maybe this gives the Phillies a little extra incentive to win--not to mention Brett Myers on the mound (1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 6 K in the postseason so far) and a stadium full of 45,000-plus towel-waving, famously unruly phanatics.

UPDATE: The Phillies scored four in the bottom of the second and lead 4-1.

UPDATE: Phillies score four more in the bottom of the third, but the Dodgers scored three off Manny Ramirez's home run in the fourth. 8-5 going into the fifth.

UPDATE: Still 8-5 going into the ninth, with Phillies closer Brad Lidge (3 saves so far) warming up in the pen.

FINAL: 8-5 Phils, as Lidge strikes out Nomar Garciaparra on three pitches for the last out of the game.
