Greg Hinz takes on the challenge of figuring out what to do with the mothballed Block 37 "express" station. The options? Give up (embarrassing), forge ahead with the current plan on the existing tracks (27 minute ride if it works, $400 million), run the express line on the Metra (ditto, only Hinz trusts Metra for obvious reasons), or build a second Blue Line (21 minutes, over twice as expensive).

The Metra option tracks with a thoughtful analysis by Dennis Byrne, but I still don't buy that cutting the commute from 45 minutes to 30 or even 21 minutes is worth a $10 or $15 ticket for that many people.
