6/18 -- Free program on African-Americans and voting

The Chicago Cultural Center (77 E. Randolph) hosts a free program tomorrow night titled African Americans and Voting: Yesterday, Today,Tomorrow, focusing particularly on Freedom Summer, a 1964 campaign to register black voters in Mississippi, which all but excluded black voters.

The program begins at 6 PM with a screening of Mississippi, America, followed by a discussion led by professor Charles Payne of U of C's school of social administration and Kate Masur, assistant professor of history at Northwestern University.
