The saga of Iraqi metal band Acrassicauda continues in Istanbul, where members continue life as refugees, utterly broke but still making head-banging music. Unless and until they qualify for immigration to the US--they're currently undergoing a grueling series of interviews to that end--you can see them in the award-winning documentary Heavy Metal in Baghdad, which screens free this Thursday at 7 PM at Stop Smiling's Wicker Park storefront (1371 N. Milwaukee). Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP at rsvp@stopsmilingonline.com.

The screening will be followed by an afterparty at the Continental (2801 W. Chicago), where Laurent Lebec of Pelican and Ben Fasman will be spinning from 10 PM.

Since the evening is free and the band needs all the help it can get, consider making a donation here.
