The feds have some questions for the Chicago Park District

The Chicago Park District, which has not been endearing itself to residents as of late (see Ben Joravsky's piece on their new $22m offices in Streeterville and our articles on the Latin School soccer field), is now apparently under investigation from the FBI for the contract it awarded to Westrec Marina Management to run the city's boat harbors, Greg Hinz from Crain's reports. It's kind of arcane and it's not clear that there was any wrongdoing, yet--Westrec merged/partnered with the Lake Forest-based boat manufacturer Brunswick during the process, which was apparently not disclosed. Anyway, the firms that lost the bid for the five-year contract are pissed; one says that they wouldn't have wasted the time and money if they'd known they were going up against Westrec and Brunswick. Read it; see if you can make sense of it; keep an eye on it, at least.
