Yellow and blue . . . makes you a criminal!

It's not just grocery shoppers and bottled-water-drinkers who face the wrath of the plastic police: City Council is attempting to ban the sale of little plastic baggies, specifically "self-sealing plastic bags under two inches in either height or width," because drug dealers use them to package their wares. But tailors shouldn't fret: the ordinance specifies that "one reasonably should know that such items will be or are being used to package, transfer, delivery and/or storage of a controlled substance." While this doesn't strike me as a particularly effective (or easy to enforce) strategy in the war on drugs, perhaps it will make the drug market more environmentally friendly, forcing dealers to adopt measures borrowed from Whole Foods.
