A strike at Lyric Opera?

Posted By on 09.25.07 at 10:21 PM

Deanna Isaacs reports:

The American Guild of Musical Artists, which represents Lyric Opera's singers, dancers, actors, and production staff, voted today (September 25) to authorize a strike at Lyric Opera--possibly effective Saturday--if a contract agreement isn't reached. At issue: wages, healthcare, and the use of understudies. Negotiators are scheduled to meet again Thursday.  The leverage: Saturday's the biggest night of the year, with a gala performance of La Traviata to be followed by the Opera Ball.
