When it became clear that the Bears were doomed, I switched over to Madden '08 and listened to the remainder of the game on WBBM, which meant I heard the radio postgame for the first time in forever. So I don't know whether this is new or not, but the radio station is giving Bears players $250 gift certificates for "appearing" on the postgame show, by which they mean receiving gifts for giving 15-second clips of athlete boilerplate, something which I had previously assumed was an irritating but necessary part of the job. I was rankled, but I can't decide whether I'm offended at a petty breach of journalistic ethics or jealous that multimillionaires get a trip to Mario Tricoci for agreeing that turning the ball over four times sucks. Yeah, fumbles are totally counterproductive--now get me the hookup.
