Da Mare brings the hardcore logical jujitsu he must have learned in the state's attorney's office elementary school in defending skirting the city's unwillingness to reveal the names of cops who are the subjects of multiple citizen complaints.

"'We have a very good police department,' Daley declared. 'You cannot say there are a few bad apples and write them off just like the media does.

"'You have a few bad apples as well,' he told reporters."

It's funny you should mention that.

If you're wondering why maybe members of the media would really like for the city to be somewhat transparent about potential "bad apples" in the police department, John Conroy's almost-two-decades of coverage about the police torture scandal is a good place to start. Transparency! All the cool kids are doing it.
