Sunday is Earth Day -- the environmentally focused, April 22 Earth Day, not the less famous if charmingly named Equinoctial Earth Day. I like to think of it as a lesson from the long tradition of heroically independent Democratic senators from Wisconsin, in this case Gaylord Nelson, who was sort of Al Gore times Aldo Leopold. Other people see it as a chance to plant trees, pick up trash, and hold enormous conferences. If that's your thing, we have a guide for you.

In the spirit of reuse and renewal, we're recycling several years worth of coverage at Green Chicago, an archive of our best reporting on our local environment and its leaders.
