CTA head Frank Kruesi stepped down today; he'll be replaced by Daley's chief of staff, Ron Huberman (pictured), a former cop and head of the department's Office of Emergency Management and Communications. Huberman's not a particularly popular figure in the comments section at Second City Cop, but as a young, able technocrat--with emphasis on the "tech-"--he's gotten praise for his role in modernizing the local cops and setting up the citywide surveillance systems recognizable by the giant flashing police boxes. Wired profiled Huberman and his system in 2005.
