This Friday Webster's Wine Bar sommelier Jeremy Quinn conducts a seminar and tasting of biodynamic wines at the Architrouve, 1433 W. Chicago. It starts at 6 PM;  tickets are $80 and proceeds benefit the Angelic Organics Farm Learning Center. Call 312-563-1033 for reservations and more.

Melanie Villines presents "The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Cheese," a history of Kraft Food brands, Tuesday night at the  Highland Park Public Library Auditorium, 494 Laurel, Highland Park. Call 847-432-7090 for information. It's free.

Soon-to-be-sold Sam's Wines & Spirits holds its pre-Whiskyfest Spirits Night Grand Tasting Tuesday night at 5 PM; on tap are a host of cognacs, armagnacs, scotches, bourbons, and Canadian and Irish whiskies, plus appearances by celebrity distillers such as Jim Beam's Fred Noe. It's $50 at the door.

Laura Werlin, author of The New American Cheese, and Bin 36 chef John Caputo, present a wine and cheese pairing seminar Tuesday at 7 PM at the restaurant. It's $25; call 312-755-9463.
