As we reported earlier, the protracted illness and death of Hans "the Mayor of Andersonville" Gotling meant that production of his renowned Mr. Hans' Andersonville Glogg had been halted. But Gotling's son Gary quickly informed us that he and his three brothers have made an arrangement with Cleveland's Paramount Distillers to relaunch it next season. Gary Gotling, now head of sales and marketing for the Hyatt Regency in Jacksonville, Florida, says when he was a lad--before his dad became a "legal bootlegger"--he helped the old man make the glogg every year in the back of Clark Fosters Liquor (now the Hopleaf). In June he plans to head out to Ohio to make a quality control assessment, and if all goes well, the glogg should be back on Chicago liquor store shelves in September or October.
