Cities On a Hill is an interesting public-policy blog, as long as you keep in mind that:

(1) it's based in parochial New York City, and

(2) there are some truths that its proprietor, the "market-friendly" Manhattan Institute, is unlikely to utter.

Harry Siegel recently assembled a nice, quick roundup on the debate over trans fats, "Freedom for Fatties vs. Freedom from Fat," where he questions NYC's odd coupling of anti-trans fat laws (which assume consumers will make bad decisions) with fat-disclosure requirements (which assume consumers will make data-based decisions). Details here, including public-health guardian Ald. Ed Burke's proposal.

The cultural cross-currents run strong in this area, but if you're a good swimmer this site looks like a place to start.
