Cheap Eats: Antipasto

Had dinner at Leonardo's in Andersonville on Saturday and was reminded yet again what a crazy bargain the place can be. A cozy and easy Italian (Tuscan) restaurant, it's a reliable pit stop whenever I'm on the north side, and I've had some fine meals there--the osso bucco ravioli leaps to mind, and a friend swears by the ziti. But hands down the reason to go is the appetizers. Order wisely and you won't even need an entree. The antipasto plate ($12) is a long, narrow ceramic boat piled high with cured meats, cheeses, olives, pickled garlic, sweet peppers, pepperoncini, artichoke hearts, and crostini. Between splitting that and a warm spinach salad (with gorgonzola, pine nuts, and, I think, pancetta) with a friend, plus the bottomless bread basket, I was already satisfied by the time the pasta came.
