Suit, With Skulls

Bradley Crandall, 21, is double majoring in economics and political science at DePaul and works part-time at Brooks Brothers.

Tell me about your outfit.

Standard, gray three-piece Brooks Brothers suit, a very spread cutaway collar shirt from Paul Stuart, and a Brooks Brothers tie. The the lapel pin I got online from J. Press. I have a lot of skull and crossbones stuff. If I’m not wearing a skull and crossbones tie or socks, I’m wearing the pin or something else. I always have some on.

How would you describe your personal style?

I’m usually trying to look as gentlemanly as possible—tie, suit, sport coat. I always try to wear a pocket square. You look more pulled together and it makes the jacket look more fun. Casually, I dress pretty preppy. Not extremely. Always a button-down shirt though. If I am wearing shorts, I go wild. I have all colors, ones with bumblebees.

Who are your style influences?

I would say the most likely is Savile Row. I love their sharp suits. The look is just very presentable but they have fun with patterns and colors. It’s a very British look. Ralph Lauren does the great preppy American look. It goes beyond Waspiness, and he has so much fun with pattern and textures.

Where do you shop?

Brooks Brothers, obviously, Polo, Saks, and Paul Stuart. I frequent those a lot. I also shop online at a bunch of UK-based stores.

What do you do for fun?

I read the newspaper. I’m religious about the Wall Street Journal. I read the entire thing every day. I guess you could say that’s the only real hobby I have. —Jessica Hopper
