Excellent job, Dan! You hit all of the points that needed to be expressed. You stated your case in a manner that might cause same sex opponents to actually think instead of react.
Hi, Dan- Well done on Anderson Cooper 360. And thank you. I've heard of talk-radio dialogue being digitally sped up, so the owners can cram more "program" into a shorter period of time. The conversation on Anderson Cooper 360 was pretty brisk. Did they speed up the conversation on your segment?
You know... I don't know if they speed things up. I do know the show is broadcast live, then rebroadcast, and I wouldn't be surprised if they tightened things up for the rebroadcast. But... uh... I can't stand to watch myself on the teevee, so I don't watch. For all i know they're putting horns on my head in post-production and dying my hair green to match my eyes.
Well done Dan, I agree that you hit all the points on the head and Perkins was just scrambling and repeating the same things over and over again without actually addressing the argument. It's funny to think that in his perfect world, children would not only be taken away from gay couples, but from single parents too. Also that somehow gays are to blame for marriage being at an all time low. He is exactly the type of person who would have opposed multi-racial marriages back in the day, on the grounds that if we allow a black and a white now, we would be allowing people to marry their dogs in the future.
The walls will continue to crumble. As young and accepting people grow into voting adults these old outdated unfair attitudes will continue to fade into oblivion. Many thanks to activists like Dan who stand up for everyone's rights.
a valiant effort by the bigots, but americans have learned their lesson regarding discrimination; and it is clear that there is no substantial reason why gay couples should be denied the right to suffer through marriage in the same way that straight people feel obligated to.
I've heard the ludicrous "what next -- polygamy?" argument. Right now NOBODY is allowed to marry more than one person; in contrast, SOME of us are allowed to marry the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with; some us us aren't. I'm straight and divorced; most of my straight friends are divorced. The one couple that I look to as a great example of the kind of relationship I'd like to have? My best friend and his boyfriend.
