How can a pic taken on January 1st when the contest announcement indicates a deadline for submissions on 12/19th? "Calling all shutterbugs: On January 1, the Reader will publish its second annual 1,000 Words issue, a look back at Chicago's year in photos (see last year's issue here). We'd like to include YOUR photos of 2008. No subject is too big or too small—we're looking for everything from big news to perfect little details that encapsulate an experience. Send links to your entries to: photocontest@chicagoreader.com. We will also be considering photos submitted to our Flickr group. Deadline is 12/19.
Winning photos will run in print and online and be eligible for one of two $150 gift certificates from Best Buy."
