Fall Fashion Nicholas Freeman

Nicholas FreemanPainter Nicholas Freeman, 28, who’s also the proprietor of the nonprofit Finch Gallery, says he likes to tweak the standards when it comes to his personal style. That’s why he snapped up his yellow shoes when he saw them online: “When you buy clothes for dudes, you get black, brown, or gray,” he says. He added excitement to a traditional sweater-and-shirt combo here by pulling an orange sweater by Duckie Brown over a green-and-white shirt by Ocha and Garth and topping them with a vintage suit jacket reworked by Dame Couture to include ribbons on the cuffs and a bird applique on the back. “There’s a little bit of love for detail there,” he says of the jacket. “It wasn’t just produced and forgotten about.” The pinstripe pants and brown scarf (bought in Belgium) are his own, and he threw in a felt newsboy cap by Marjorie Marshall Design.

Chicagoland Whet Moser: Chicago has plenty of cameras to catch you running red lights, but not many to catch acts of violence in Cook County Jail--and the ones they have don't record anythig.
